Day 51 – First Day of MEAN

I didn’t do much coding stuff over the weekend. Before coming in Monday morning, pretty much all I had done was install Node. When I got to the Dojo, instead of the usual morning algorithm whiteboarding session, we watched an algorithm documentary! It was all about how important algorithms are to our daily lives without us even noticing. Day 10 – Last Day of Web Fundamentals

It was pretty laid back today. A few students in our cohort were off taking the yellow belt again all morning, so the Web Fun room felt pretty empty. For the rest of us, it was just a catch-up/general exploration day. My group blazed through our daily algorithms, so instructor Mike had to come up with an extra one to keep us occupied. Day 6 – JavaScript

Finally we started getting into some good stuff today. In my opinion, logic is where the fun begins. JavaScript is definitely not my language of choice, but I think I’ve been getting used to it pretty well. The assignments today were mostly about practicing using and accessing different data structures, but at the end of the day we got into some basic DOM manipulation. Continue reading

Day 5 – Yellow Belt Exam

The yellow belt exam was pretty much the same as the assignments we’d been doing for the past few days. Get a picture of a website, recreate it with HTML and CSS. The only difference was that this one was timed. The website I had to recreate was just marginally more complex than the ones I’d been recreating previously. Continue reading
